Personalized Children Poetry

Personalized Children’s Poetry — Milana Nelson

Personalized
Children’s Poetry

A poem written for your child — by name, by age, by who they are and what they need to hear. Words they will carry long after childhood is over.

Ages 3–18 Personalized Confidence · Courage · Growth By Milana Nelson
Children respond to poetry in a way they don’t respond to advice. A poem speaks past the resistance. It lands somewhere deeper.

Words That Land
Differently

You can tell a child to be confident. You can explain it, model it, repeat it. And sometimes it still doesn’t reach them. But a poem — written for them, about them, with their name inside it — that reaches somewhere advice cannot.

Milana Nelson is a poet, a mother, and someone who has spent years understanding what children need to hear at each stage of their becoming. She writes poems that teach without lecturing. That praise without flattering. That gently correct while building up.

Parents come to her the way they might commission a portrait. They leave with something their child will remember for the rest of their life.

Poetry That Grows With Your Child

From the playful preschooler to the teenager standing at the edge of adulthood — each age speaks its own language. Milana writes in all three.

Ages 3–7

The Little One

Playful · Teasing · Builds confidence through humor

Small children learn through play and laughter. These poems use gentle teasing and rhythm to sneak confidence in through the back door — while they’re still giggling.

If a baby had a job,
What the job could be?
Maybe smile when it wakes up
And smile when looks at thee. — from Be Confident! by Milana Nelson
Ages 7–12

The Growing One

Structured · Moral · Kipling-like authority

Children this age are forming character. They respond to weight, structure, and clear moral direction — delivered without preaching. These poems are a compass, not a lecture.

My child, before you make your choice,
And set your mind to act,
Remember every step you take
Becomes a future fact. — from Be Confident! by Milana Nelson
Ages 13–18

The Almost-Adult

Lyrical · Searching · Speaks to the soul

Teenagers don’t want to be told what to do. They want to be seen. These poems see them — their fears, their light, their becoming — and remind them to carry on.

At night I look up — and the stars
remind me they are not accidents.
They chose to carry the light.
They chose to shine. — from Be Confident! by Milana Nelson

Be Confident!

For the Little One
If a baby had a job, What the job could be? Maybe smile when it wakes up And smile when looks at thee. Though you are not as small And you can do a lot, You are not yet smart and tall As a Doctor or a Pilot. If you like to yell at me — Do your best, my child. If you want to lie to me, Do it with all might. And if you throw a tantrum, Make sure you succeed! Make some mess in your bedroom! Do whatever you need! Drive me crazy, dear child, As a future Driver. As a Teacher, be the wild To teach me be the wilder! In a few years you will be Taller, smarter … madder! If you learn to do your best And try a little harder.

The humor is the door. The confidence walks in quietly behind it.

Be Confident!

For the Growing One
My child, before you make your choice, And set your mind to act, Remember every step you take Becomes a future fact. And when you stand before the day, Your choices still unknown, You shape the path you’ll walk upon By how your heart has grown. And when your temper starts to rise, And pride begins to lead, Remember strength is choosing right Before you act with speed. And in a few short years you’ll be Taller, smarter, stronger, If you learn to do your best And try a little longer. And when we look back years from now At all the ways you grew, We’ll laugh at all the wiser things You chose to think and do. And for each choice you make today Becomes your future story; And every time you try your best, You build your grown-up glory.

Every step you take becomes a future fact. Children this age need to feel the weight of that — and the promise in it.

Be Confident!

For the Almost-Adult
At night I look up — and the stars remind me they are not accidents. They chose to carry the light. They chose to be seen. They chose to shine. And so do I. You are right — My mistakes do remind me they were not accidents. They chose me to be seen — to reflect on my light. They chose me to shine In my flame. Was a shame Letting to dim my light for the sake Of silly mistakes. I chose to rise again, I chose to be seen again, I chose to shine, For you, My star, Do not make me feel I am a shade of the mistakes I made. Help me rise. Choose me to see you Choose to shine, For me. My love, if fear hushes your voice, if weight of the past is heavy, do not give up, believe, — keep what is yours, do not let it go, instead, grow. A human, You are not anymore a child, you are not yet a woman, grow, until the weight of the past becomes the light to reflect on, to shine, — you might! At night look at the sky — the stars are just a mere reflection of a sun that shines on another side of the world. We might find one another again there. We might.

Poem into a song service is available. A poem and a music may come together — to be heard as well as read.
